For Your Eyes Only
This is a collection of 5 short stories and I love them all. Even the one where James Bond listens to a guy tell a story about someone else's failed marriage after a dinner party. The antagonist in that story is listening and the protagonist is a glass of brandy. It is the least action packed story ever until you get to the second book of short stories which has "James Bond in New York" which is really just "Things Ian Flemming likes to purchase when he's in Manhattan." The other stories in the book have a lot going on, are very character driven and are quite lean. The short story collections are great quick reads to see if you could even stand reading a complete novel. The stories Risico and the Hildebrand rarity would both be good jumping off points for films.
